When was the last time you saw a U-Haul trailer hooked up to a hurst that was heading for the cemetery? I am not saying, by any stretch of the imagination, that those having a lot of money has lost their way regarding salvation, or forfeited their soul because of money, God forbid. It is when money becomes a person’s god that problems arise.
When a person chooses to leave
God out of the equation, this personal choice determines their fate at the end
of life’s journey.
(1 Timothy 6:10), “For the
love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from
the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many
sorrows.”
Yes, they may be able to buy
anything in this world in a feeble attempt to satisfy their lack of fulfillment
and deep longing for the sanctity of peace, but all their efforts are in vain
as they try, unsuccessfully, to find lasting joy that money cannot buy. They refuse to see their need for God in
their life Who is joy unspeakable and gives lasting peace, forever.
(Matthew 19:24), “And again
I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than
for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
Their profit margin for
success in the lifestyle they chose is zip, zero, nada. Without Christ in a person’s soul, money and
things are merely counterfeit placeholders for the Real Thing—Jesus.
(Mark 8:36), “For what will
it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?”
As you have discovered in Part
1 and Part 2 of this writing, it encompasses how to achieve true success
without selling out to mammon (money).
We must be careful not to fall into the trap of putting all our marbles
into the ‘sack of greed’ with a hole in the bottom.
At the end of life, a person
may find themselves “weighed in the balance and found wanting” as the Bible
says, having lost everything, namely their soul, because Jesus Christ was
second fiddle to wealth. It is not too
late to place Jesus at the top of your list of desires, if in fact He is toward
the bottom.
(Matthew 6:33), “But seek
first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be
added to you.”
