It's Up To Us

“Here we are again; you and me Lord.  These times with you are very special, especially when the challenges that make up every day living are pressing in.  When I open my mind to your voice, calmness overshadows my spirit, which makes me realize that I need to steal away more often to hear your voice.  What do you have for me today?”

The above prayer is an example of what should be foremost in all of our lives each and every day—spending time with God.  It helps to make life easier to face and provides a renewed awareness of God’s presence.  We can face anything with the Lord at our side.  He is our strength and strong tower.

(Psalm 61:1-3), “Hear my cry, O God; attend to my prayer.”  vs.2 “From the end of the earth I will cry to You, when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”  vs.3 “For You have been a shelter for me, a strong tower from the enemy.”

Many times I am overwhelmed at the level of awareness that God reveals to me in our quiet times together.  When I go back and visit some of my past writings I marvel at the richness contained in them.

God indeed gives direction, strength, and awareness, with moments of intimacy and closeness when we take time out of our busy schedules to meet with Him.  It requires discipline, especially after a hard day at work or attending to the needs of children and keeping up with housework.

Where is this haven of rest that our soul so desperately needs?  I believe it is at any place or time of our choosing.  It’s up to us to make the choice; God will be there.  He desires our fellowship and wants to minister to our thirsting soul.  Our Father in heaven longs to commune with His children.

God is waiting patiently for an opportunity to share spiritual awareness—nuggets from His storehouse of heavenly blessings.  It is an option as to whether we feel it important or necessary to set aside special times to rejuvenate our walk with Jesus.  As we commit to doing this, things go better; we relate to others in a more positive way; and kindness rises to the surface of our personality like cream on milk.

Our disposition favors peace and tenderness rather than confusion and unrest.  As we focus on God for a few minutes each day it renews our strength and gives us power over the devil.  Our heel continues to rest firmly upon the back of his neck.  With God’s shield of salvation protecting us we cease to fall victim to Satan’s schemes and misgivings.   It’s up to us to take time for God.

(Psalm -36), “You have also given me the shield of your salvation; your right hand has held me up; your gentleness has made me great.”  vs.36 “You enlarged my path under me, so my feet did not slip.”

(James 4:7-8), “Therefore submit to God.  Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”  vs.8 “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you…”

(1 John 4:4), “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”
