Many nights, when I pillow my head, I listen to instrumental music by David Foster. His music is soothing and seems to transport me to a place where everything that pressed on me throughout the day fades away in the beauty of his melodies.
I often pray that my own
writings might affect others in a similar way—that they would provide direction
through God’s Word, offer encouragement, and bring peace to those who are
struggling to find it.
I stand amazed at how God
placed a melody of love in my heart the moment He forgave my sins. I remember how it once was, when joy and
lasting peace were beyond my reach, as I strived within my own abilities to
find something—anything—to soothe my mind with a perfect melody for my tone-deaf
existence.
But like lovely music in the
night, Jesus placed a song in my heart and a lightness in my step as I journey
down the path of righteousness. No
longer am I enslaved to sin. No longer
am I in bondage or separated from Divine Grace.
If you are desiring a melody
of love to permeate your life, rather than the discord of an out-of-tune
harmony, Jesus says, “Just try Me and see if I am not good.”
“Come to Me, all you who
labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for
I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
I am thankful for the melody
of love that now fills my heart since Jesus took up residence there. He is my melody.
“Speaking to one another in
psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart
to the Lord.” (Ephesians 5:19)
