As the moon influences the high and low tides of the oceans on earth, so God is with us through the high and low tides of life. You may ask, “Wait! Even the bad? Is that really the case?”
I totally believe that God is
in control of every aspect of our lives—all things, not just the good things we
give Him credit for, but also the difficult things we may question or
criticizes Him for. Scripture tells us
that the true and living God can take what is genuinely bad and work it toward
genuine good for His people.
With this in mind, Scripture
tells us that He allows things to come upon us that build patience in our faith
and teach us to have full confidence in God.
He will certainly receive the glory when He brings us through the hard
times.
Jesus tells us in Matthew
5:45, “That you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun
rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the
unjust.”
God uses trials to build what
ease never could. Tribulation produces
endurance.
Living life is not without
pain or suffering, but God can bring good out of all things. This is where faith enters into our
relationship with the Almighty. We must
learn to trust Him in every phase of life—both the ups and the downs. I call that the ebb and flow of life.
In both the high and low tides
we face, Scripture assures us in Hebrews 13:5, “Let your conduct be without
covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave
you nor forsake you.’”
I remember an idiom that goes
something like this: “Come what may.” I
believe it means no matter what happens, under any circumstances, or with an
acceptance of whatever the future may bring.
God wants us to learn to trust
Him. There is a song that says, “If we
never had a problem, how would we know that God could solve them?”
The bottom emphasis of this
writing is that God will never leave us to face the trials of life alone. Jesus is always with us, making intercession
to the Father in Heaven on our behalf.
What more could a child of God ask for than having Jesus Christ Himself,
the Son of the living God, praying for us?
We are special in His
eyes. We are sons and daughters of the
Most High God when we accept Jesus as our Savior. The Lord walks by our side through every ebb
and flow of life.
And perhaps this is the
confidence we need when the waters rise or fall: Romans 8:28 tells us, “And
we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those
who are called according to His purpose.”
