When I was a young boy, I remember what my dad said to me after a terrifying moment. A sudden flash of lightning lit up the night sky like the brightness of day, followed instantly by an ear-deafening clap of thunder that seemed to explode directly above our house. The sound was so powerful it shook the entire structure, even knocking a clock off the wall.
I was frozen in fear. But my dad looked at me calmly and said, “That
was the marvelous voice of God.” My
dad’s response did something profound: he didn’t dismiss my fear but reframed
it. Thunder went from something
frightening to something meaningful—almost sacred.
In that moment, everything
changed. He gently explained that I
didn’t need to be afraid of God.
Instead, he wanted me to understand His magnificence and power—the kind
of power that could shake a house with just His voice. What felt terrifying became something awe-inspiring. That moment became a lesson I’ve never
forgotten.
I believe all of nature
listens when He speaks—and we should too.
My dad helped me see that
God’s voice doesn’t just resound in the skies; it can move the heart. He can shake the very foundation of our souls
in ways that bring growth, strength, and peace.
And through it all, we don’t have to fear—we can trust.
He taught me about God’s
omnipotent power and encouraged me to place my full confidence in Him,
especially in times of need.
Now, as an adult, I depend on
Him daily. I step out in faith, striving
to be His hands extended and His voice to those who need to hear from Him. While the enemy trembles at His power, God’s
children can rest securely in His presence, knowing He abides with us forever.
A single experience can shape
faith for years to come. Faith isn’t abstract—it’s active, something we rely
on, something that guides us to show up for others.
Even today, when I hear
thunder, I’m reminded of His promise: “I will never leave you nor forsake
you.” His love is endless. This truth has stayed with me, turning
moments of uncertainty into reminders of strength, presence, and reassurance.
Scripture tells us that when
Jesus was baptized, God spoke from heaven, saying, “This is my beloved Son,
in whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17).
When God speaks, we should listen—and take heed.
