In Times of Doubt

I wonder what it would feel like, in my everyday walk with Jesus, if I never had a doubt concerning His never-ending love.  I make this statement only to emphasize a point that has been on my mind.

There are a multitude of things that enter our minds through the eye gate and the ear gate—some good and some bad.  Satan, the enemy of mankind, is always throwing curves when it comes to our relationship with God Almighty.  He tells Christians that God is not concerned about the things that are trying to steal our joy.  Without fail, when we least expect it, that enemy attempts to deceive us with his lies, causing believers to question their status as God’s born-again children.

Personally, it is sometimes a battle to keep my mind centered on God’s promises, especially when Satan tries to come in like a flood, attempting to deceive and plunder my belief system.  Yet, with God’s help, I am able to focus on the truth of His Word and maintain victory over these intrusions.

When it comes to life after death—and whether there really is a hell to shun and a heaven to gain—I immediately resist Satan’s lies through faith, and he, along with all his doubts, must flee from me.

This is where the Word of God steps in and stops Satan dead in his tracks: “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.” — 1 John 4:4

Christians are in the world, but we are not of the world.  We are pilgrims passing through on life’s journey to heaven.  Believers are constantly being purged and washed clean from the filth they encounter—worldly influences that try to attach themselves to us.  The blood of the Lamb—God’s Son, Jesus—was shed on the cross for all mankind.  Because of His sacrifice, He cleanses us each and every day and keeps us pure in the sight of God as we walk in the Spirit.

Jesus gave His life to shield us from evil as we journey home.

The question was asked, “What would it feel like to walk with Jesus without doubt?”

I guess the answer to that question is found in another question: Did Jesus not say, “I will never leave you nor forsake you”?  That promise, alone, gives us stability—a firm foundation upon which to stand.  It helps generate the faith needed to override doubt and kick Satan and his modus operandi—his method of operation—to the curb, so to speak.

This is where faith allows God to raise up a standard against our enemy in his attempted assaults.  When we give our lives to Jesus, we walk by faith and in His Power.

Hebrews 11:6 says: “But without faith it is impossible to please Him.  For he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

Were it not possible to have or obtain faith, this particular Scripture would not be in the Bible.  But it is there, so we can believe what it says.

We can rebuke doubt and walk in the faith God gives us—those of who call God Father—Abba.  Because greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world.
