I remember the days when tattoos were primarily worn by military personnel, gang members, prison inmates and wannabe tough guys. Two tattoos stand out quite vividly in my mind. They were thought to be cool, because they reflected negative undertones. The words say it all…BORN TO LOSE and BORN TO RAISE HELL.
A grandpa now in my sixties, I am thankful that I didn’t mark my body with these words, though I came close at times. I know they are just tattoos, and God looks on the inside of a person rather than the outside, but I’m glad they are not on my arm as a constant reminder of the troubled years that I endured without Godly direction.
Since I found meaning to life in 1969, because of Jesus Christ, these words no longer have the same draw they once had. They don’t express the views and lifestyle I now live, because the attitude of my heart changed when I met the Lord.
I have learned in my Christian walk that I was born to win, not lose. I was born to raise my voice in praise to God, not to raise hell. God made life worth living.
The world may have a lot to offer in the way of momentary pleasure and financial gain, but these things can never bring a peaceful night’s sleep or calmness when facing tomorrow’s unknowns. As a Christian I can rest in God and know that He has all things in control. My steps are ordered of the Lord. I will not lose to the devil as long as I am walking with Jesus. I was born to win.
A person may win the biggest lottery prize ever offered in the State of California and still not possess contentment, or enjoy lasting peace that God has blessed me with all of these years. If an individual does not know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, their search for fulfillment cannot be achieved no matter how much money they have, because money cannot buy happiness.
(Matthew 16:26) “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?”
The moment I invited Jesus Christ into my heart I was declared a winner by God. I became His son and joint-heirs with the Lord. His royal blood now flows through my veins. I am rich in spirit, because the three most important entities in the universe dwell within me—the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. I am a winner beyond measure.
I have a mansion in heaven; a God who is alive and not dead like the gods of this world; I belong to His family; and I won’t spend eternity in hell. Nothing in this world can compare to these wonderful promises. I am indeed a winner! I was born to win!
Jesus Christ won the battle for our soul on the cross of Calvary when He gave His life for the sins of humanity and then rose from the grave the third day. This act of love gives us the wonderful hope that we too can live, through Him. Praise the Lord; we were born to win!
