In God We Trust

If I were arrested for my belief in the Lord Jesus Christ, would there be enough evidence to convict me?  I heard this question asked years ago and thought it profound and noteworthy.  Christians, with wholesome values, are becoming more unpopular in our society and throughout the world.  They are looked down upon and scorned.  This concerns me greatly.

Seeing the negative changes that are taking place in our nation gives me cause to consider the writings of St. Matthew’s gospel in the New Testament.  (Matthew 24:9), Then shall they deliver you up to tribulation and shall kill you, and you shall be hated of all nations for My name’s sake.”

Our country has produced and circulated dollar coins for the year 2007 without the words IN GOD WE TRUST stamped on the face.  They are on the edge of the coins; out of sight; out of mind.  I believe future actions will be to remove these words altogether.  If you would have told me a few years back that they would have stooped to the level of thoughtless disregard for the sanctity of this nation, I would have thought you to be out of touch with reality, but here we are.

Christians are victimized, looked down upon, and ridiculed for their belief in the Lord Jesus Christ throughout America and the rest of the world.  Other so-called religions are given more credence and protection by our laws than those for which this nation was founded.

In God We Trust is being substituted with idolatry like never before in the history of the United States of America.  The Christian belief is no longer considered valid or prudent by many of our leaders.  This same mindset is filtering down to the general populace.

Woe unto this great nation if God is replaced with ungodly principles and humanistic teachings.  Calamity and the judgment of God will no doubt follow.  This trend is happening so quickly that people scarcely see the forest for the trees.  It is right in front of them, yet they cannot see, because Satan is blinding the intellect of mankind.  Christian influence is facing challenging obstacles ahead, but God is greater than any manmade religiosity and cultism.

Today’s lack of concern to elect God fearing men and women, having Godly principles, into leadership positions creates misdirected control by those in charge.  Americans are led to believe that their rights are being protected, when in fact, they are not.  Some of these leaders and influential wannabes speak encouraging words out one side of their mouth, spouting that they have our best interest at heart, while systematically working behind the scenes to obtain their own agendas.  They are hypocritical, bigoted, and self exalted phonies.

All they want, in my opinion, is more power and less control by the citizens of the United States; righteous or otherwise.  They want to make all the decisions pertaining to American lifestyle to the point of condemning Christian values and the wholesome convictions that they hold dear.

Christians are like mirrors that reveal the depth of corruption in the hearts of sinful leaders.  Christians reflect the righteousness of Jesus Christ, which exposes unrighteousness and ungodly behavior for what they are.  Corrupt men and women prefer that Christians be silenced once and for all.

The godless nature of people having false religions from other countries now living in this land of opportunity, and numerous United States born citizens of this free nation, desire the same; that Christians be silenced.  They prefer darkness rather than the light of God’s Word, because their heart is evil.  I said, “Free nation,” but for how long?

I believe this motherland is entering the beginning of sorrows mentioned in (Matthew 24:3-8).  A time may be soon coming when church doors could be boarded up and freedom of worship taken away.  It’s just around the corner if our nation continues down the path it’s on.  The failure to fall on knees of repentance before the true and living God will bring to pass the scripture in (Matthew 24:9).

I sometimes question whether or not  there is enough of Christ in me to take a stand for what I believe, or will I bow to ungodliness and seek to save my life?  These are sobering questions, but God said that He would go with His children even to the ends of the earth.  He will never leave or forsake them.  The Holy Spirit will provide whatever is needed to stand for the Lord in that day.

God is our strength and high tower.  We can do nothing within our own strength, but through Him we are made strong.  His strength becomes our strength through the Holy Spirit working within us.  Every born-again Believer can stand against tyranny, ungodly leaders, and the neighbor next door, should days of tribulations become a reality in our lifetime.  We stand in the almighty name of Jesus.  We needn’t fear things to come, because perfect love casts out all fear.  God is perfect love.

The disciples of Jesus Christ were able to face horrific maltreatment and abuse as did a host of other dedicated followers of Christ down through the ages.  God gave each individual the strength to endure ghastly persecution.  They remained unmovable in their faith; proclaiming Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.  They were able to stand in this faith and suffer many things for the cause of Christ, even death, because the Holy Spirit dwelled within them.

The same Spirit that dwelled in these patriarchs dwells in Christians today.  It is through the unchanging power of God, which is in every Believer, that liberty and true independence reigns supreme.  In God we trust!
