Invest and Contribute

If you were to ask me about the title and why I chose to use these three words, I would tell you that I felt they seemed to encapsulate the plan of God in a congenial way.

Those who love God and are called by His name ‘invest’ their lives in the truth of God’s Word.  And because Christians believe the Bible is inspired by God, they ‘contribute’ their time and effort to sharing its truth with those who are lost and need a Savior.

Born-again believers understand the importance and reason why Jesus died on the cross—for the healing of humanity’s minds, bodies, and souls. The least we can do is contribute to God’s plan of salvation by standing in the gap where He needs us, ministering to those He sends our way.

We invest our lives so that others may experience God’s amazing grace and the forgiveness of sin.  Witnessing for Christ is part of God’s perfect plan to save souls.  The fields are ready for harvesting, but God needs more workers who are willing to stand ready, walking in the Spirit and prepared to accomplish the task at hand.

Scripture tells us to “go into all the world and preach the gospel.”  I believe this includes the world within our personal sphere of influence—the hurting neighbor across the street or next door, the person we encounter in the grocery store, the coworker beside us, or even another Christian who may be struggling to find their way when the going gets tough.

“The Great Commission” certainly includes other countries around the world as well.  Missionaries have a special calling on their lives to sacrificially invest and contribute their time, money, and dedicated service to others as Christ’s ambassadors.  Their lives demonstrate what it means to surrender oneself to the work God has called them to do.

Romans 12:1 says it well: “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”

Those who abide in Scripture invest and contribute themselves for the cause of Christ.  They are willing and ready, whenever a door opens, to share the good news with people who need to know that Jesus Christ is the only hope of making heaven their home.

Think about it: if we want to take others with us, we must be willing to invest and contribute to those who are lacking the hope we have found in Jesus Christ, the Son of Almighty God.

Invest.  Contribute.  Give of yourself.

God has given us the truth.  What will we do with it?
