There Is Hope

Is there anything stable on which to build one's life in a society constantly changing with every wind of doctrine; a society that is beguiled on every side with temptations and compromising influences?  Is there anything we can possess that will bring lasting happiness and fulfillment?

Many individuals expect material possessions to fill the longing in their heart for something bona fide real.  These possessions lack the substance to bring lasting and total contentment.  Though desired, they bring momentary pleasure only—seasonal at best.  They are illusions of real hope that fail the test of authenticity when a person pillows their head at night yearning for peace.  Things fall short in bringing peace and happiness.  These empty hopes cannot take away the fear in one's heart of what the night may bring.  Without hope, sleepless nights are numerous.

There is One who not only gives peace in the night, but provides direction to stumbling feet.  He elevates a person high enough to see clearly where to place the next step.  This wonderful man provides the stability and hope that people are searching for.  If allowed, He lovingly sets a person on the straight and narrow path that is free from pitfalls and entrapments that cause pain and suffering.  He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, (John 14:6).  His name is Jesus.

He sits at the right hand of God the Father making intersession for those that are weak and need strength to say no to the press of an unseen enemy that seeks to devour their soul.  This enemy, the devil, has one thing in mind—to destroy all that is good and wholesome.

Jesus, God's Son, breathes into us His breath of life, while removing the iniquity that is suffocating us.  He paid the ultimate price for sin through His death on a lonely hill called Golgotha.  Jesus was nailed to a cross, suspended between heaven and earth, because He loved us greatly.  His life was not taken from Him; He gave it freely that our soul need not perish in hell.  God made a way, whereby, mankind can be saved and become heir to everlasting life in heaven.

God is no respecter of person and does not hold our past against us once we are forgiven of sins.  On the contrary, He miraculously separates us from our past and sets us free from bondage.  God promised that He will never remember our past sins again.

Jesus is the solid foundation upon which to build a victorious life.  He is the Great I Am.  He is God.  In Him there is hope.  The chorus to a popular Gospel song says it well.  “On Christ the solid rock I stand.  All other ground is sinking sand.  All other ground is sinking sand.”
