If you’ve ever shown kindness to someone and saw the look of gratitude on their face, it made it all worth while. Their smile of appreciation brought warmth to your heart, because of your giving.
Most everyone enjoys a hand shake of appreciation when they’ve strived to do the best they could. Words of approval and admiration go a long way in making them feel good, and that their efforts didn’t go unnoticed. Giving of ourselves is one solution for an enhanced personal interaction with others.
(Acts 20:35), “I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”
(Matthew 11:42), “And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward.”
God sees the need for us to bless others, because He knows the moment that we exercise decency and concern, rivers of goodness flow back to us. It is the law of God. “Give and it shall be given unto you, pressed down, shaken together, running over, shall God give unto your bosom.” (Luke 2:2)
What we receive in return may not be of like matter that we gave, but the love and compassion that stimulated the act to give will flow back to us. What greater gift is there than putting a smile on someone’s face and watching the heaviness they were under, lift, bringing a sense of satisfaction and happiness to them?
Who knows, one day we might be drowning in our sorrows and need someone to come alongside and lend a helping hand of support. Love will always find a way to do good for someone else. This is God’s business; loving and giving to those in need through an outstretched hand or two. There’s no business like God’s business and being a part of it.
We need to look beyond our four walls and pay attention to others. God pays attention to us. We can help raise the bar of self-esteem and the value they place on themselves by showing love and appreciation. (1 Corinthians ), “For they refreshed my spirit and yours. Therefore acknowledge such men.”
Don’t keep a record of wrong doing in others. We cannot step into the future if we are still living in the past. It is easy to find fault in those around us, because we feel better about our own shortcomings. We must not judge others lest we ourselves are judged by God. If God doesn’t put us down then why should we point our finger at someone else to accuse and condemn? Remember, there are three fingers pointing back when we do.
(Proverbs 15:1-2), “A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” vs.2 “The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, but the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness.”
People are not clay to be molded, but gifts to be unwrapped. We can provide strength and support to those with a poor root system and help them develop deeper roots that will enable a new found strength to stand against the howling winds that blow in their direction. The storms of life are inevitable, but a person need not be overwhelmed.
As we take time to pour the water of friendship and courtesy around them, they become strong and their roots deepen, because of the sustenance that we pour into their life. When the heat of the battle is beating down on them, their deep roots provide the necessary nutrients to prevent them from withering. They are a beautiful flower that needs to blossom, and with our help it will happen.
(Galatians 6:10) “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.”
There’s no business like God’s business when being used to share love and encouragement to those that need it. Like the lyrics of the song says: “Oh to be His hand extended, reaching out to the oppressed. Let me touch Him, let me touch Jesus, so that others may know and be blessed.”
