The Inclination to Sin

How can any red blooded man or woman resist the inclination to do what comes natural?  The sexual drive inherent in humans was instilled by God for procreation.  Unlike the animal kingdom, we have been given certain guidelines on how to live and what is needed for moral and ethical applications with respect to sexual desires.  The Bible provides these guidelines and standard of living, but some people choose not to abide by them.

God gave mankind the freedom of choice regarding obedience or disobedience to His commandments.  Those that yield their fleshly craving to sexual promiscuity and immorality are the ones choosing this life style.  They have become slaves to the animalistic desires of their rebellious mind; yielding themselves to unethical, immoral, and sometimes illegal actions against other people that cause mental anguish, pain, and even death.  The drive to satisfy this obsessive behavior becomes their bondage and bedfellow; far from God’s plan that brings peace and liberty through Jesus Christ His Son.

Sin has a starting point somewhere at the crossroads of right and wrong.  What people do at this point determines whether they give themselves to God or Satan.  Whore-mongering, seeking out willing participants to indulge in sexual fantasies, or stalking unsuspecting female or male victims; all are the predator’s objectives to take advantage of innocence through rape, sedition, or seduction.  The drama and details have already been played out and rehearsed in their perverted mind.

Should God have made humans with this sexual drive?  Perhaps it is God’s fault that people misuse what He said was good?  After all, didn’t He put this sex drive in people?  Perhaps they can’t help what they are doing.  These questions and statement are typical of people trying to justify their actions and the actions of others; but God says that if we do these things we will surely die!

(Romans ), “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Sinners give themselves over to unclean spirits.  Their modus operandi is to satisfy their habitual cravings to make their fantasies a reality, at any cost.  They have turned their back on God, and their master is the devil.  They have allowed self destructive notions and out of control actions to rule their better judgment, which block and prohibit the blessings of God from flowing into their life.  A person may well ask, “But how did sexual perversion start, if God is not to blame?”

Ungodliness first begins to fester in the heart of a person that has taken their eyes off the Lord; allowing sinful emotions to go unchecked, unrestrained, and unrestricted.  The second and third time of not listening to the inner woes spoken by the Holy Spirit permits passion to become more intense than the time before, causing their restless soul to act out these unrestrained urges to sin.  Sin is the yielding of one’s members to things that are of the devil.

Obsessive behavior and perversion gain ground, which hold the person hostage like a vise each time they give themselves to immoral acts.  The individual becomes more hardened as they continue down the wide road to destruction; causing others to bear the grim results of their warped thinking.  The backlash of a prolonged single mindedness to sin brings defeat and heartache to those committing godless acts.

God speaks loudly to the inner man, saying, “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.  For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life,” (Galatians 6:7-8).

God wants to set people free from bondage!  He wants them to stop what they are doing and repent!  Yet the desire to continue sinning overrides the voice of God.  All they can hear is the beating of their wicked heart as they fabricate new ways to find satisfaction.  I must inject a positive thought here…God is in the business of saving souls.  Though a person may be the principal sinner ever, God’s grace is sufficient for all that repent of their sins and come to Jesus.  Remember, every Christian was a sinner, saved by grace.

By accepting sin as a way of life, if the sinner is not careful, they will fall into the trap of searing their conscience.  They continue in a downward spiral; falling deeper and deeper into a state of ongoing rebellion against God and society.  If someone would have told them a few months back that they would be doing the things they are doing now, they would have told them they were crazy.  But here they are doing them.

This is how sin works.  It is a slow process of demise that is calculated by the devil to deceive as many people as possible before the return of Christ.  Sinning is like walking on very thin ice that is ready to break at any time and plunge the sinner into the bitter cold of utter darkness and separation from God.

If they persist in disobeying God, their continued focus on sex becomes narrowed to a fine point of concentrated obsession the farther away from God they trek.  Sex is all their perverted mind can think about, because Satan has control of their thinking.  Just as a magnifying glass can focus the concentrated rays of the sun on a piece of paper, causing it to burn, a person harboring lust in their heart is like the paper that burns to ashes.

Sadistic, perverted people choose their destiny of where they will spend eternity—heaven or hell.   By yielding unchecked emotions and behaviors to the devil instead of listening to God, they will reap what they have sown, and burn in hell forever if they don’t repent and change their ways.

Is God to blame?  No!  Sin is born when people allow themselves to be led astray by the desires of their mind that they allow Satan to manipulate.  God made the human race in His image and likeness, but sin corrupts a person when they give themselves to the ungodly host—Satan.  The entity a person gives power to will become their master.

Though God created sex to be enjoyed between a man and woman in the holy bonds of marriage, God gives power to resist the inclination to sin.  (1 John 4:4), “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”  We can stand against the devil in God’s strength and not our own, because of the power that God gives to all Christians through Jesus Christ.  There is power in the name of Jesus!

(James 4:7-8), “Therefore submit to God.  Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”  vs.8, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.  Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded.”

We can resist the devil’s temptations by refusing to sin.  We are allowed the enjoyment of sex as God had intended it to be.  God’s ways are perfect, wholesome, and pure.  In Him there is no condemnation when we walk in truth and resist the devil.  Sinners are not utterly cast down and segregated from God’s grace.  God loved humanity so much that He gave His Son to die for our sins.

(John 3:16), “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

(Romans 5:8), “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

(Luke 19:10), “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
