Have you ever asked yourself this question? “Why doesn’t God answer prayers in a timelier manner?” I believe the answer lies in one’s ability to ask in faith and then wait for the answer—expecting a miracle. People fail to wait long enough for God to answer them.
God is not the problem, the impatient petitioner is. They want things yesterday and are not willing to give God a chance to move on their behalf, nor are they amenable in spending time on their knees in prayer. They are accustomed to getting needs met quickly in this computerized age in which we live.
I remember solving math problems in school and calculations in my business without the help of a hand-held calculator or computer that provide answers at the touch of a few buttons. Almost everything around us, in this computerized generation, is of the new age; from pumping gas ourselves, to bagging our own groceries; walking on the moon, to deep space explorations.
Magnificent and brilliant as discoveries are, newly designed creations are constantly being developed every day. People can get caught up in the whirlwind of innovation to the point of becoming desensitized to the things of God; thinking that His input is no longer needed. There is a belief that they can do a better job meeting their own needs, because of high-tech advancements.
Our actions reflect who we think controls our destiny. For the most part, Americans are an impatient, impetuous people that need to slow down and smell the roses. Busy life-styles are affected negatively when early childhood teachings from caring parents are forgotten.
These important, life-sustaining truths in upbringing can be lost if they are not guarded with care—do unto others as you would have them do unto you; lend a helping hand; respect authority and honor your parents; and be patient and kind; to name a few.

The devil is out to deceive humanity and devour the very existence of mankind if we allow him to do so. He is constantly scheming and deviously at work trying to divert us from God’s perfect will in our lives. Impatience and wanting our own way plays into his method of deception.
Satan is the author of confusion and the father of all lies. He promotes self-indulging gratification not only in the physical/spiritual realm, but also in the area of cyberspace where excessive time is spent on computers and texting on phones, thus, leaving little time for family communication, or allowing God to have positive influence on us.
(Luke 12:34), “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
What do we do with our time? Is it well spent? How long has it been since we’ve spent all night in prayer concerning a pressing matter and wait for God to give the answer? When did we talk to Him last?
We need to take inventory of what is most important and then make adjustments in our living to accommodate these important areas. Don’t let Satan steal inner peace by allowing your mind to think on substandard things that promote less than the best for your “God Mind”.

(Proverbs 23:7), “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he”
(Proverbs 27:19), “…So a man’s heart reveals the man.”
Life is too short to vacillate between one avenue of thinking and another; trying to make right decisions with wrong input; becoming unstable in every way, because of impatience. Erratic behavior needs to settle down with “stability” as its forte, and throw the “wavering mind set” into God’s wastepaper basket. When impatience finds rest, the peace of God finds us.
God’s desire is that we trust Him and believe the words in (Psalm 46:10). “Be still, and know that I am God…” Breathing a prayer to God opens the channel for communication to take us into His presence, which allows someone bigger than ourselves, with infinite knowledge, to stand by our side as He directs us in the path of righteousness in a world full of deceptions.
Mankind’s intellect wanes in comparison to God’s all-knowing omniscience and is dwarfed by His omnipotence. The Lord desires the very best for all of us. Why not give God a chance to work on your behalf for a change? When people try Him, they see that He is genuine love—the missing piece that they needed so desperately. When the choice is made to allow God to prove Himself, He does just that.
(Malachi 3:10), “‘…and try Me now in this’, says the Lord of hosts, ‘if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.’ ”
The biggest skeptic will stand in awe and exclaim, “God is good!” The windows of heaven are opened wide to release blessings that pour into the life that’s seeking truth. Blessings are given in abundance as a result of waiting upon the Lord and trusting Him.
(Isaiah 40:29-31), “He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength.” vs.30 “Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall,” vs.31 “but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
My prayer is this: “Teach me Lord to wait.”
