Tired of moving around? Some families seem to be in a continual state of relocation, moving from one home to another as circumstances dictate—military assignments, career promotions, real estate opportunities, or the desire for a larger home as finances allow.
Packing up an entire household
is rarely easy. As people grow older and
begin to settle into a place they consider home, the thought of moving can become
even more challenging.
Yet there is one move that
will be the final move every Christian will ever make—the journey to those yonder
streets of gold, where our heavenly mansions are being prepared for those “who
love God and are called according to His purpose.”
Years ago, someone told me
that God’s perfect number was 7. Their
explanation was that He finished creation and the forming of humans on the
seventh day. I like to imagine my
heavenly address as being 777—rather than man’s number, 666. “777”
is my personal illustration. Scripture
does not assign a heavenly address or identify 777 as God’s number. I just like the numbers.
Yes, there will be a glorious
change of address when Jesus returns for His bride—those who have been born
again and are eagerly awaiting His return.
Unlike earthly moves, this one will not be dreaded but joyfully
welcomed.
Jesus instructed us to look up
and rejoice as we see Bible prophecy being fulfilled concerning His second
coming. What gratitude will fill our
hearts when we finally arrive at our eternal home!
We will be overwhelmed with
thanksgiving for the change of address that Jesus made possible when He paid
the full price for our redemption through His death on the cross and His
resurrection from the grave.
Thank You, Jesus, for paying
the debt for my eternal home in heaven—a debt I could never have paid on my
own.
