I Plead the Blood

When I was younger I sang the lead on one of the choir songs at church…”The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power.”  The lyrics, beautiful as they are, speak of the blood that Jesus shed on Calvary; how it gives strength from day to day; sooths doubts; and never loses its power.

When was the last sermon or song you’ve heard about the blood of Jesus?  There are many new choruses being written, but seldom do they mention the blood.

I was raised by a mom and dad that pleaded the blood over situations they had little control over.  They waited patiently to receive their miracles.  I raised my family doing the same; pleading the blood over them and my household.  And it worked!

Where has this practice gone?  I rarely hear of people pleading the blood anymore.  Is it that the blood has lost its power?  I think not!  So why is this practice disappearing as the older generation of Believers leave this world to inherit their reward in heaven?

The blood is still here and powerful as ever, but many people of today are too busy to tap into this power.  They spend little time seeking God for His promises and try to work out problems on their own; or they pop another pill for discomfort and pain rather than calling out to God for deliverance and pleading the blood of Jesus.

It is quick and easy to visit the doctor’s office for things inside our body, or self administer and medicate areas that are visible.  In a sense, because of the wonderful medical discoveries this generation is blessed with, people are losing something very special.  Can it be faith to trust the God of miracles?

There’s no denying that the medical profession has lengthened our life span and quality of life.  My point is this; pleading the blood is becoming second place to science, drug prescriptions, and mind over matter reliance.  Horoscopes and psychic babble are coming to the forefront like never before.  Individuals are losing their one on one connection with God.  People don’t have time to hold out for miracles anymore.  Remember the old saying, “If you don’t use it, you lose it.”  Could this be the reason that belief in the power of Jesus’ blood is diminishing?  Is the blood of Jesus as relevant today as in the past, or has it lost its power and worth?

If the blood of Jesus Christ has lost its power, we are all in trouble.  We might as well throw the Bible into the trashcan and whistle Dixie.  If there is no longer power in the blood, none of us are saved from our sins or can be.  We are all condemned to hell, because salvation is a farce; the plan of God for our life is bogus; and the Bible is full of lies.

I cannot and will not believe this nonsense, because of the personal experience I had with Jesus Christ and the relationship that I have with Him each day.  I know He lives, because His blood cleansed me from all unrighteousness.  I knew when it happened; I felt the change.  When the Holy Spirit entered into my soul, the weight of sin was lifted from my shoulders.  There was a definite change that took place.

When I cried out to the Lord, He heard me.  When I needed healing, He touched me.  When life seemed empty, He gave me hope.  When I didn’t know which way to turn, He gave direction.  When I didn’t have a job, He supplied my needs.

When I plead the blood of Jesus, heaven scrambles to attend to my needs.  Jesus lives!  And because He lives, I live also!  What more could I ask for?  Jesus Christ gave His life blood that I might have life.  No one or nothing else in this world made it possible to walk in peace; only Him.  He gave me the assurance that the blood will never lose its power.

I plead the blood and miracles happen!  You can plead the blood and expect your miracles as well.  What are you waiting for?
