The old saying, “Be sure your sins will find you out” is certainly true. The irony of sinning is when people think they can get away with it. A reckoning day is coming. It may not be today or tomorrow, but it is around the corner. It’s only a matter of time when the payment for sin is due. Non-Christians will pay the price for their disobedience.
Look at the prisons; they are all exceeding their designed capacity. Prisoners were deceived by Satan into believing a lie that they could get away with their crimes. They soon learned, “You do the crime; you do the time.”
Satan paints a beautiful picture of leisure on someone else’s dime, but fails to show the finished portrait of a ruined life, because of sin and the debt that must be paid to society.
There is another obligation more vital than the debt to society. It is the payment for sin that God requires of all transgressors. How it is paid is up to the individual. For those that live a lie and rebel against God choose the wide road to destruction. This willful exclusion of God condemns them to hell; a place where the price for sin is vexation and torment, which is the final judgment. It is the ultimate damnation of souls that refuse God’s payment for sin; His son Jesus Christ. To be in hell is total separation from God’s love, forever; a horrific price to pay for disobedience.
Jesus Christ paid the debt for sin when He allowed himself to be nailed to a cross for the sins of mankind. His death and resurrection made it possible for us to live free from bondage and the displeasure of God. Those that accept Jesus as Lord and Savior will live with Him in heaven for eternity, free from pain, sickness and the shedding of tears. It will be joy unspeakable and full of glory.
Though Jesus paid the full price for sin, people still refuse to accept His gift as payment. They insist on paying the debt themselves. The Lord’s death is not in vain for those that believe on His name. Everyone is given the freedom of choice; Jesus and the blessing of heaven, or Satan and the torment of hell.
A person need not remain a prisoner to sin, because of their refusal to accept Jesus as Lord. He made a way; He is the only way. (John 14:6) “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
(John 3:16) “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
