When Christians are filled up with God’s Spirit; prayed up to overflowing; and read up in daily devotions; they walk in victory. This obedience to a dedicated life- style enables them to exude confidence and expectation when petitioning God for their needs and the needs of others. A ‘You and me’ connection between God and the one asking for help is the awareness felt.
There is something to be said for obedience. It promotes trust in God, while assuring born-again-Believers a healthy relationship with Him. The simplicity of this statement is easy to understand, because faith is generated through obedience to God’s Word, the Bible.
A Believer soars like an eagle when they keep in step with the Holy Spirit, while maintaining Godly principles and a commitment to kingdom living. They find it invigorating and certainly worth while when calling upon the Lord, because faith reaches out to claim the promises in the Bible.
(Luke 11:9-10), “So I say to you, ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” vs.10 “For every one who asks receives; and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”
God hears and answers prayer not because of who we are, but because of a Father/son; Father/daughter relationship that is provided through Jesus Christ. Christians that respect and cherish this relationship walk in peace and contentment, while non-Christians remain restless and anxious.
If Christians, however, allow themselves to fall short of God’s expectations and commandments, a feeling of separation occurs, because they are walking in self. Like Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, Christians hide themselves from God when they disobey Him.
God doesn’t abandon His children, they separate themselves from Him, because of guilt or fear. Thinking they have failed God, they hide from His presence, but God remains unmovable, because He will never leave or forsake those that seek Him.
Anxieties become many as more feelings emerge that God is not only disappointed, but frustrated with them. Their insistent inability or refusal to say no to sin begins to take its toll; mentally, physically, and spiritually. Extreme feelings that God is angry and ready to strike them down become intense. They fail to remember the reason that God gave His only Son to die on a cross. It was for them! God desires a fruitful relationship and spiritual union.
In spite of what we’ve done or how we may feel, the Lord still desires to call us friend and longs to be our shelter in times of storm. His love is everlasting and His mercy endures forever.
There is nothing worse than falling into sin and then needing to call upon God for help in a time of emergency. One feels naked and undone before Him, because they see themselves as unclean and not worthy to receive anything from God. Doubt and fear fill their heart, because they are unsure of their relationship with Him.
When they do a self examination or reality check, realization screams, “I’m out of touch with God!” The close communion they once enjoyed with Him is now replaced with questions, doubts and a feeling of deficiency. The awareness that God’s presence has diminished looms over them, because of sin. It’s a terrible place to be. It’s like walking down a dark street, late at night, alone in an unfamiliar city.
Even though a person falls prostrate before God and repents of their sin, when they rise and begin their walk with the Lord, Satan brings doubt as to the validity of their faith. He is a liar and the father of all lies. Satan tries to steal the victory of sins forgiven, but God’s Word is truth.
(1 John 1:9). “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
The truth is this. Were it not for God’s mercy and amazing grace, no person could enter heaven. God is perfecting positive changes in those Christians that yield themselves to His sovereignty. His ways are beyond our understanding at times, but all in all, He is working for our good.
The Holy Spirit strives to strengthen our relationship with God. In love He convicts us of our transgressions and reunites us with our Father when we cry out, “Forgive me; I have sinned!”
I believe that the alienation that is felt when we sin is the convicting power of God’s Spirit. He pricks our soul and makes us aware of our disobedience and the need to repent.
God wants every person to be saved and set free from sin. He lifts us up from the mire that we have fallen into and gives new life, with a new desire to serve Him. God loves us, passionately!
His plan is that no-one be lost. For this reason He gave His son, Jesus, to die for all mankind. Because of Jesus, the plan of salvation is complete. There is no other way to make heaven our home except through Him.
Redemption is contingent upon every individual person asking God to forgive them. You or I cannot make this decision for them; nor will God. The choice is theirs to make.
A difficult thing to do after repenting is forgiving oneself of the sin that caused separation from God. If we allow Satan to throw doubts our way regarding the new birth through Jesus Christ, our relationship with God suffers. Self condemnation develops and disconnects us from faith, which prevents growing in grace. We are little help to ourselves and others when stagnation stifles forward motion.
We need to resist Satan in the name of Jesus, and accept the gift of salvation. Stop living in the past!
(2 Corinthians 5:17), “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
Believe that God forgives and that He rewards those that seek Him. We cannot change the past, but we can learn by our mistakes and pray that God continues to strengthen our spiritual walk with Him each and every day.
The Holy Spirit warns Christians the moment temptations become stumbling blocks, which stand in the way of progress. He provides escape routes to take before temptations become sin in our life. The Spirit teaches how to turn from them and look to Jesus where strength is manifested to help resist the urge to sin. Lack of obedience will cost us something. We need not sacrifice peace of mind or separate ourselves from God, because of wrong choices.
Justifying our actions, regarding sin, is dangerous. If in doubt, don’t do it! It is better to be right in God’s eyes than being wrong. If we fall into Satan’s snare, the Holy Spirit is quick to reveal it and help us make restitution when we cry out for mercy and forgiveness. God teaches how to become more sensitive to His voice, and vigilant to Satan’s snares.
Sin separates, but obedience kindles a healthy and joyful relationship with God. As we surrender our will to Jesus, we walk in peace and soar as eagles. Life is meaningful, and victories are many. Positive things happen when obedience is foremost in our mind.
(Isaiah 40:31) “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
