Fallout

I’ve been fighting the battle of fallout for many years now.  I am at the point of not caring where I’ve misplaced my comb.  “Balding men are handsome,” my wife tells me, but if I had my will concerning hair fallout, I would vote to keep mine.  It’s somewhat disconcerting when looking into a mirror and it seems that I see my dad staring back at me.

The true meaning of the word fallout, according to Webster’s Dictionary, is “The descent to earth of radioactive particles, as after a nuclear explosion.”

The splitting of the atom has opened doors never dreamed possible.  The energy that is unleashed can and has been responsible for horrific explosions that destroyed and contaminated the surrounding area by the thermal blast and radiation fallout.

The radioactive particles, called fallout, are spread to areas far from ground zero by the jet streams in the upper atmosphere.  This fallout is unhealthy and can be deadly to humans and animals.

My desire is to expose the negative affects that 'fallout’ has on people.  For the purpose of this writing I want to liken fallout as being the result of an action taken, which has subsequent, negative results.  It reminds me of one of Newton’s laws of motion.  “For every action there’s an opposite and equal reaction.”

Science has proven that second hand tobacco smoke from cigarettes is toxic to one’s health and causes various diseases in humans.  I view this poisonous smoke as fallout, because the affects can be lethal to the human body.  It may not be radioactive fallout, but it can kill just the same.

I heard on the radio that scientists are now saying that carbon dioxide we exhale is a toxin and hazardous to our health.  Will this not open the doors for future law suits in the workplace, because co-workers are slowly killing one another with their breath?  I believe that Pandora’s Box is being opened unnecessarily. To point out the negative aspects of fallout, I will call carbon dioxide, fallout, since scientists view it as having a negative affect on humans, by the definition of toxin.

Fallout from sin has lasting repercussions at a personal, local level and to those around the periphery of the one sinning.  The negative influence of a person’s life is a form of fallout.  It can be as deadly to the soul of others as radioactive particles are to the body.

Sexually transmitted diseases such as A.I.D.S. and many other communicable diseases are the results of fallout from those that are infected.

The ones committing reprehensible acts of rebellion against God by not adhering to His strict rules can spread contaminated fallout to those around through their willful disregard to God’s commandments.  The Bible calls it sin.

The plan of salvation, through Jesus Christ, is set aside by many until they’ve had their fling in life.  Their intention is to give their heart to the Lord when they are old, while others reject God altogether, thinking they don’t need him at all.

Ultimately, the end result of being contaminated by sin is death of the soul, for the ones that left God out of their life.  Hell becomes ground zero for these that were hell-bent on doing their own thing without concern for themselves and others.  Their toxic fallout affects everyone around them negatively; including themselves.  Sin destroys health, relationships and future dreams for a healthy, meaningful life.

Freewill is the choice given by God to every individual on earth.  They can abide by the rules of righteousness and reap blessings from the true and living God, or they can disregard God’s warnings and pursue calamity and destruction.  Toxic fallout is the result of personal choices that are made by an undisciplined life.

If we pursue the principles of God, the fallout that’s produced is prosperity and peace, whereas, to willfully pursue corruption, the fallout is spiritual suicide.

When a person compromises their choice of freewill by choosing the wrong action, the results of such action is an opposite and equal reaction.  They become the loser, because the backlash of negative results is that which they have sown.

Wholesome and healthy fallout can be acts of kindness, words of encouragement and the giving away from ourselves to others.  The fruit of the Spirit needs to be operative in our life.  “For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth.”  (Ephesians 5:9)

When we allow the particles of love to go forth, people around us are affected in positive ways.  Our love points them to Christ the Lord, which enables them to eliminate negative fallout in their life.

When we take on the attributes of God, they change what kind of person we are and the type of fallout we emit.  Our freewill in choosing Jesus, rather than the devil, brings health and vitality at home and to others.
