Live It Up

Live it up today for tomorrow may never come.  This saying and others like it are driving forces behind the psychological philosophy of people throughout the world that are searching for stability and peace of mind, whereas, self-indulgence becomes substitute for the one having sustaining peace, namely, Jesus Christ.

These souls are looking in the direction of ungodly living as a means of numbing the out of control sense of frustration that is the reality of their pain.  They live today like there’s no tomorrow, because of a fear of tomorrow’s unknowns.  Satan blinds them to the truth of their actions.  He purposely fails to reveal that by giving themselves to promiscuous living it only leads to a lonelier existence.

People miss the blessings that today can provide when they are worrying about tomorrow’s problems, which causes them to search for peace in all the wrong places.  If they would only stop for a moment and consider what God can do for them in the present, no longer would there be a need to continue the search for happiness.

No-one need live in fear and trepidation.  (I John ), “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear; because fear involves torment.  But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.”

Everyone knows their own weaknesses and shortcomings, and the devil uses them against us.  But God knows us better than we know ourselves.  He helps us face each day with dignity and confidence.  He will never leave or forsake us as long as we lean on Him.  He provides an EXIT from every temptation that we face, which leads away from confusion and heartache.

(Jude 1:24, 25) “Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy.” v.25 “To God our Savior, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both no and forever.  Amen.”

Christians face varying challenges that can sometimes create worry, with regards to serving God each day.  When this happens they have failed to trust God today to take care of the tomorrows.  When we become anxious about every little thing that may come, rather than walking in faith each day, it nullifies the joy that we should be experiencing in today’s walk with God.

I do my best to live it up today and allow God to take care of the tomorrows, while striving to live in the boundaries of His love.  This does not mean that I can sit back and do nothing, while attempting to live off another person’s religious experiences or becoming a sluggard that is spoken of in the Bible.

(Proverbs 6:6-11) “Go to the ant, you sluggard!  Consider her ways and be wise, which, having no captain, overseer or ruler, provides her supplies in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest.  How long will you slumber, O sluggard?  When will you rise from your sleep?  A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep—so shall your poverty come on you like a prowler, and your need like an armed man.”

When tomorrow comes, we have today as a reference to look back upon to encourage us that God is able to keep us safe in His love and continued grace.  It shows the ability of God to keep what we have committed to Him.  (II Timothy 1:12), “For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.

Are we able to keep ourselves from straying from God’s protective embrace?  No, but He is.  When we put our trust in God and live according to His expectations one day at a time, without anticipating tomorrow’s challenges, we realize victory, while maintaining a keenness of spirit that reminds us that we walk in God’s presence each day; one day at a time; one day after the other.

Christians are a loving people that are fun to be around.  They practice what Jesus preached, which is the second commandment of God.  (Matthew 22:38), “…You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

The positive attitude of Christians that love life and live each day in victory is contagious.  No-one likes a doomsday narrative of things to come every time a Christian speaks to them.  Pessimistic attitudes should be dumped into the nearest trash can with all of the other unwanted things, each and every day.  Life is too short to waste it on negative chatter.  We should share about the wonderful joy of living for Jesus in the present, and the beauty that He brings each day to a life that is dedicated to Him.

Standing in confidence, while walking in peace and running with assurance, says something about a person.  They have determined to live it up in Jesus.  No-one need go the way of the world to find happiness each day; nor is it necessary to indulge in the general trend of coping with life’s pressure by using mind altering drugs, alcohol or partaking in ungodly acts to try and find calmness of spirit.

To live it up each day through serving God brings stability to one’s life and allows restoration of the mind, body and soul to succeed.  Questions and quandaries are resolved, while promoting healing of relationships.

A “live it up” attitude means that a person has succeeded in giving each day to Jesus without compromising their faith in God.  They have determined to let tomorrow take care of itself without worry and stress, because of the sovereignty of God.

(Psalm 37:23-28), “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way.”  v.24 “Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand.”  v.25 “I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread.  v.26 “He is ever merciful, and lends; and his descendants are blessed.”  v.27 “Depart from evil, and do good; dwell forevermore.”  v.28 “For the Lord loves justice, and does not forsake His saints; they are preserved forever, but the descendants of the wicked shall be cut off.”
