Like others, I too have been caught up in tradition and fighting crowds at malls each Christmas season. My wife and I spend money each year on gifts that we wrap in colorful paper even though family members probably don’t need or even want the things we purchase, but we buy them anyway.
There is no doubt that Christmas has become significantly commercialized through the media, and yes, sales are everywhere, which tempt consumers to exceed their budget and overspend. Getting caught up in the frenzy of buying causes people to lose focus and not recognize the reason for the season. They buy and give without thought of what Christmas is all about.
Santa Claus has become the focal point of our celebration, leaving Jesus out in the cold much like the day when He was born in Bethlehem . Mayors, governors, and the federal government have separated state and church by refusing to acknowledge December 25th as being the day that Jesus was born.
I recently heard on television that the mayor of a nearby city had their employees remove ornaments of stars, angels, and nativity scenes from Christmas trees that were inside government buildings, because one atheist complained that it was unconstitutional for him to look at religious paraphernalia. It offended him.
It is amazing to me how one person rebelled, while Christians set back and remained silent. For this reason prayer and reading the Bible in public schools was also banned. Christians were quiet, while a female atheist made it her soul purpose to get the job done for Satan.
Our nation was founded upon Godly principles, but these values are slowly being eroded, because Christians have become complacent; void of spunk and grit to speak out against such actions mentioned above. They sit at home on Election Day and then complain when another non-Christian is elected to office.
Our nation is quickly losing ground in the world’s eyes as being a “super power”, while suffering financial ruination, because of turning their back on the “reason for the season”. Our government is full of heathens and ungodly degenerates, because Christians refuse to take an unyielding stand and speak out for Christ. Many are becoming complacent and uncaring like the keeper of the inn when Mary and Joseph needed shelter. The same spirit exists today, because our nation’s people have not taken the time to recognize the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. His name is Jesus.
Gifts are nice, but to lose the true meaning of Christmas is a travesty. Shame on us! We are becoming so involved in meaningless things that we fail to keep God first in our life. God forgive us! May we once again stand for freedom like our forefathers and tell the few that want to suppress and dominate America , “Sit down and shut up!”
We must take a stand by getting out of that easy chair and casting our vote, and not fear to speak up for righteousness when Satan tries to speak. We must do something before freedom to worship God is also forbidden in this country.
Let us not forget the man-child that was born in a manger, because there was no room in the inn . I pray that we make room in our heart for the only one that can save us from our sins. He came to set the captive free from the bondage of sin. Jesus died on a cross for you, me and every person on earth. Those that accept Him as Lord shall not perish into everlasting hell, but will have eternal life in heaven. The reason for the season is Jesus Christ the Lord.
