The Choice Remains Wide or Narrow

Why do people choose the wide road to travel down rather than taking the straight and narrow way?  Perhaps it’s the wind in their face that they enjoy most, because of the fast-track thrill that allows freedom to journey at high speeds with less foresight and accountability, whereas, the narrow way requires caution with ethics and conviction with scruples.

At higher rates of speed the road becomes like a mirage; hazy, with a false appearance of being smooth and safe.  Signs on the side of the road become unreadable the faster a person travels.  GOING THE WRONG WAY and DO NOT ENTER are ignored or not even seen, because of the awaiting thrills up ahead; blinding the eyes of pleasure seekers.

Though this road looks smooth at a glance, chuckholes and debris have been purposely placed and scattered along its route.  Reaction time lessens at higher speeds making it impossible to maneuver away from these dangerous pitfalls and waste pockets.  Irreparable damage can occur to the exposed and vulnerable undercarriage, because of these encounters.

The wide road is certainly more inviting, because it appears everyone on it is having a good time.  But this visual image is actually people that are in a tail spin after hitting the rough spots.  The supposed screams of pleasure are screams of terror, because they are out of control.  Yes, the road is wide and seemingly safe, but it leads to destruction; with much heartache.

The narrow way allows for enjoyment of the beautiful scenery and communion with God, while being able to read the signs along the way…SALVATION THROUGH JESUS CHRIST; YOU’RE ON THE RIGHT PATH; KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK; PERFECT PEACE THIS WAY.

To the natural eye, things on the wide road look pleasing and in step with human nature, but without the help of filtering glasses called ‘shades of repentance’ the blinding light of sin would severely damage the sensitive eyes of the soul, causing an out of control setting.

Most everyone’s nature is to choose the easiest, fun filled road to travel, because sin is inviting and desirable.  Adam’s sin nature is in us all.  It is completely opposite from God’s nature.  Submitting to Adam’s nature provides only superficial pleasure for a season, with later regrets.  To choose God’s nature is choosing lasting peace and spiritual enrichment.

We can choose the wide road to travel or the narrow one.  The choice is ours to make.  As for me, the straight and narrow way to righteousness, with Godly morals and principles, is the one I travel.
(St. Matthew 7:13, 14)  “Enter ye in at the strait gate:  for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat.” v.14 “Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”
