Keep It On Straight

Chickens that get their head cut off will often run frantically, out of control, while flapping their wings non stop as they clumsily bump into everything in their path.  It finally succumbs to its fate and all movement stops.  Death comes quickly as the heart ceases to beat and blood stops flowing.  Life departs and the body gives into the hopelessness and finality of death.

There are people everywhere that are frantic and out of control, running in circles like a chicken with its head cut off.  Pressures and fear of the unknown perpetuate the agony.  It’s as if they are chasing the wind, yet not seeing the wind, only the results of what it does.  They know not the direction it blows or whence it comes.    They are wasting precious time and energy attempting to capture its powers in their hands, as they blindly run after it.  It reminds me of a dog chasing its own tail.

Daily routines are often helter-skelter with its challenges and trials.  They cause frantic reactions to arise in those that are disconcerted, because situations sometimes offer little room to control them.  People feel out-of-sorts and clumsy when combating the problems they face.  It’s like running in circles without direction.

A person that loses their head and turns within themselves for answers from their own intellect and strengths, to bring some semblance of order into their life, inevitably succumbs to hopelessness.  Their finite abilities cannot bring happiness to an out of control life.  Soon reality slaps them in the face and the person dies within, because the resources they relied upon ran out.  Life departs and the spirit gives into hopelessness.  All movement stops in their quest for life.

But there is hope.  We need not chase after empty promises that Satan presents as life, because they only lead to death.  We can live through Jesus Christ.  He is our hope and salvation.  He provides the strength that is needed to face another day.  His royal blood flows continually through our veins and it will not cease to flow, because life is in the blood of Jesus.

When we know Jesus as Lord, all of the running around and going in circles stop.  We see clearly the obstacles before us and realize that it is better to keep our head on straight than to lose it and suffer the pangs of death.
